Mavs star Anthony Davis’ night ends with injury during game vs. Warriors

Anthony Davis was forced from the Dallas Mavericks’ Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors due to a groin injury.

The Mavericks were moving upcourt during the second quarter when the ball flew in Davis’ direction. But Davis, out in front of the Golden State defense, wasn’t looking. Instead, he headed straight towards the Dallas bench and appeared to be in discomfort.

He was immediately subbed out after the turnover and was seen on the broadcast trying to stretch on the bench. According to Grant Afseth, a reporter on the scene, Davis received treatment on the bench throughout a timeout before heading back to the locker room.

Coming out of halftime, the Mavericks said Davis’ night was over. The official diagnosis was ‘right groin spasms.’

ESPN’s Malika Andrews reported that Davis was being held out, out of an ‘abundance of caution.’ Mavericks coach Jason Kidd did not have any further updates for reporters after the game.

Davis had 3 points on 1-for-4 shooting with 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal in 11 minutes before exiting. The Warriors led 71-58 at halftime.
